Holistic Counselling - Commonly Asked Questions

What is holistic counselling?

Holistic counselling is a gentle, person-centred approach that supports your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
It’s forward-focused, helping you move toward the life you want to create. While we may reflect on the past for understanding, the focus is on growth, balance, and emotional healing in the present.

How is it different from traditional counselling?

Traditional counselling may focus primarily on thoughts, emotions and behaviour. Holistic counselling also considers how these connect with the body, lifestyle, relationships, values and overall wellbeing. It may include mindfulness, relaxation and self-awareness techniques to support positive change.

What can it help with?

Holistic counselling can support:

  • Anxiety, stress, or overwhelm

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship challenges

  • Low confidence or self-esteem

  • Life transitions or feeling “stuck”

  • Emotional healing and self-growth

You don’t need to be in crisis. Many clients come simply to feel more balanced and connected.

What happens in a session?

Each session is guided by your needs and pace.
We talk about what you’d like support with, explore emotions gently, and use practical tools to help you move forward.
The space is calm, confidential, and focused on your wellbeing.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different.
Some clients notice positive shifts after just one or two sessions, while others find ongoing support helpful over several weeks or months.
We’ll discuss your goals together and tailor a plan that best supports you and your personal growth journey.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you share is treated confidentially and with care. There are limited exceptions, such as when there is a serious risk of harm or information must be disclosed by law. I will explain these limits with you.

Can I combine it with hypnotherapy or other services?

Yes, many clients do.
Combining counselling with hypnotherapy or other holistic approaches can deepen your progress and support long-term wellbeing.

Are online sessions available?

Yes. You can meet with me in person at my Stanmore Bay clinic, supporting clients from across Auckland and Rodney, or online worldwide via Zoom. Online appointments allow you to access support from your own space, wherever you are.
